@news was auctioned in the first weeks of Fragment username auctions, which opened in late October 2022. Bidding opened at 9,850 GRAM (formerly TON) on November 11, and three wallets placed 38 more bids over five days before the winning bid of 994,000 GRAM on November 16.
The runner-up bid, 916,000 GRAM, came from the wallet that had won @fifa two weeks earlier. No Telegram username sold for more than @news until @danbao in February 2026.
The wallet that won @news still holds it, together with @auto, @bank, @game and @king. It holds more of the most expensive Telegram usernames than any other wallet we track.
